Walter Sisulu University (WSU) APS

Before applying to any degree or program offered at the Walter Sisulu University (WSU), every student should understand how to compute their admission scores, grades, or points using the WSU APS calculator.

On this informative page, we gladly inform you about:

HOW DO YOU COUNT YOUR Walter Sisulu University (WSU) ADMISSION POINTS?
The Walter Sisulu University (WSU)) has provided instructions on how to use the APS calculator to compute your admission point score.

Some South African university students, particularly Freshers, must study and learn more about the APS calculator, as well as complete the cumulative at the conclusion of each session. This will allow you to periodically assess your academic success.

South African universities utilize APS points as one of the criteria for determining candidates’ qualifications for their programs. APS points are one of the measures used by universities to determine if candidates are qualified for their programs. Below are the details for the Walter Sisulu University (WSU) APS calculator, which candidates can use to calculate their scores.

Before getting admitted to any program at any institution in South Africa, certain criteria must be met. Meeting the requisite Admission Point Score (APS) for the program in question is one of them.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE APS CALCULATOR?
It’s a basic and straightforward calculator that will assist you in determining your Admission Points Score.

WHAT DOES APS REPRESENT?
The abbreviation APS stands for Admission Point Score. Universities in South Africa utilize APS points as one of the techniques for determining if an applicant is qualified for a particular programme. Your APS may be calculated using your Matric results.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO RECEIVE MY APS?
Before you may enroll for a university programme, you must first obtain your APS (Admission Point Score).

WHERE CAN I GET MY APS?
You must possess your final Matric examination certificate.
The results of your top seven Matric subjects are converted into a point system that calculates your APS (see diagram 1 below).

APS CALCULATION AT WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY (WSU)
To calculate your APS, put your six top subject percentages together. Please note that Life Orientation is not included.

In order to be accepted for a given program, applicants must have a minimal APS. In general, any matric topic in which you write an exam earns you points. The percentage you score in each subject determines how many points you earn for each course.

The APS is the total number of points earned in each course. To be eligible to study at Stellenbosch University, applicants must complete the following requirements:

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR ADMISSION POINT SCORE (APS)

An Admission Point Score (APS), explained below, has been developed for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) based on the Achievement Rating of each subject. The percentages achieved in National Senior Certificate examinations (preliminary and final examinations) will be allocated an admissions score using the percentage obtained for each subject.

Admission Point Score Applicants who have obtained an NSC qualification must meet the required Admission Point Score (APS) score that is set for each programme. NSC results are translated into points for each NSC subject.

Results of interviews and other assessments may also be taken into account in determining the total APS or Admission Point Score. Unless otherwise stated within a programme prospectus the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology has, in terms of the new NSC, allocated a rating system according to levels as follows: APS

Level Percentage Symbol Status of achievement APS
7 90-100% A+ Outstanding achievement 9
7 80-90% A Outstanding achievement 8
6 70-79% B Meritorious achievement 7
5 60-69% C Substantial achievement 6
4 50-59% D Moderate achievement 5
3 40-49% E Adequate achievement 4
2 30-39% F Elementary achievement 1

WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY (WSU) EDUCATION UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES APS

Admission Point System (APS)

The Education programme endeavours to use a point system for admissions. The achievement levels are then translated into points for each NSC subject. Points will be used to calculate the total Admission Point Score (APS).

  •  The minimum APS required for likely admission into Diploma programmes (ND ABET and ULME) shall be 20.
  • The minimum APS required for a Bachelor’s degree is 26.

The Education Admissions Committee considered the administration of admission point score as proposed by HESA. The Committee appreciates the breakdown made in the achievement levels as this advantages a student whose performance is better than others. On the basis of the HESA proposal the points will be awarded as in the following example: NSC percentage per subject points
