ABOUT RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU)
The University, established in 1904, is located in Grahamstown. This town is nestled in Eastern Cape. Rhodes is a small university that enjoys the distinction of having one of the best graduation rates in South Africa, an outstanding postgraduate success rate, and the best research output per academic staff member.
RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) LOCATION
Rhodes University is a public research university located in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Established in 1904, it is the province’s oldest university and is one of only four universities in the region. Rhodes has six faculties: Humanities, Commerce, Law, Science, Education, and Pharmacy.

We ask this question because some donors have stipulated that their bursaries may only be awarded to a particular race. The Government also requires this information for statistical purposes.
PLEASE INDICATE ANY PHYSICAL DISABILITY
Examples of a disability would be blindness, cerebral palsy, deafness, paraplegia, partial hearing, and wheelchair use. We need this information in order for us to assist you with your needs; it will not jeopardize your application. However, if you do not disclose a disability in your application, you will not be able to claim any concessions in this regard during your registration at Rhodes University (e.g. extra time in examinations, etc.)

The degrees which may be taken at Rhodes are listed under the Curriculum Selection section. ENROLMENT AT A PREVIOUS TERTIARY INSTITUTION If you have previously been or are currently registered at another institution a copy of a full academic transcript giving your final results is required. Midyear results may be considered but the Dean may defer his decision until your final results are available. Please submit a transcript from the institution ? not a Result Slip.

RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) DEGREE PROGRAMMES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Your application will only be considered for admission to the University if you qualify for Bachelor’s degree study AND you satisfy the faculty requirements. To qualify for a Bachelor’s pass status, learners are required to take seven subjects, four of which are compulsory (two languages, Life Orientation and either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy), and three of the learner’s own choice from the subjects on offer at the school.
To qualify for degree studies at Rhodes University, learners must pass:
English language at an achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above.
At least four of the seven subjects must be from the list of the recommended subject list set out below and students must have obtained an achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above.

RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) INTERNATIONAL STUDENT VISA INFORMATION
South African Study Visas are granted for the period of the study stated in your Acceptance Letter/ Letter of Undertaking from The Registrar. If you would like to take some time to travel to South Africa, please be sure to apply for extra time when submitting your visa application in your home country. You cannot apply for a tourist visa once you are in South Africa.

RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) FEES
The closing date for applications from all new students for admission to the University is 30 September. This is also the official deadline for foreign applicants.
Initial applications for admission must be accompanied by a non refund¬able application fee of R100 for all applicants. Late applications will be considered.
No applications from foreign students can be considered after 30 September.
RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) TUITION FEES (ESTIMATE)
R36 050 to R65 075 (this varies from degree to degree)
Allow approximately R6 050 for books and stationery.
Note: that these fees shown do NOT include travel expenses or pocket money.

R68 987 to R72 428 (this includes all meals but excludes vacations)
The residence fees also depend on the grade of accommodation chosen.
