Rhodes University (RU) Admission Point Score (APS)

Rhodes University (RU) (APS)

Here on This Educative Page, We gladly provide you with the Information about Rhodes University (RU) Admission Point Score (APS), How to Calculate your Rhodes University (RU) Admission Point Score (APS) & Scores/Results

Before applying to any degree or program offered at Rhodes University (RU), every student should understand how to compute their admission scores, grades, or points using the RU APS calculator.

HOW DO YOU COUNT YOUR Rhodes University (RU) ADMISSION POINTS?
The Rhodes University (RU) has provided instructions on how to use the APS calculator to compute your admission point score.

Some South African university students, particularly Freshers, must study and learn more about the APS calculator, as well as complete the cumulative at the conclusion of each session. This will allow you to periodically assess your academic success.

South African universities utilize APS points as one of the criteria for determining candidates’ qualifications for their programs. APS points are one of the measures used by universities to determine if candidates are qualified for their programs. Below are the details for the Rhodes University (RU) APS calculator, which candidates can use to calculate their scores.

Before getting admitted to any program at any institution in South Africa, certain criteria must be met. Meeting the requisite Admission Point Score (APS) for the program in question is one of them.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE APS CALCULATOR?
It’s a basic and straightforward calculator that will assist you in determining your Admission Points Score.

WHAT DOES APS REPRESENT?
The abbreviation APS stands for Admission Point Score. Universities in South Africa utilize APS points as one of the techniques for determining if an applicant is qualified for a particular programme. Your APS may be calculated using your Matric results.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO RECEIVE MY APS?
Before you may enroll in a university programme, you must first obtain your APS (Admission Point Score).

WHERE CAN I GET MY APS?
You must possess your final Matric examination certificate.
The results of your top seven Matric subjects are converted into a point system that calculates your APS (see diagram 1 below).

See also: Rhodes University (Ru) International Student Visa Application

APS CALCULATION AT RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU)

To calculate your APS, put your six top subject percentages together. Please note that Life Orientation is not included.

In order to be accepted for a given program, applicants must have a minimal APS. In general, any matric topic in which you write an exam earns you points. The percentage you score in each subject determines how many points you earn for each course.

The APS is the total number of points earned in each course. To be eligible to study at Stellenbosch University, applicants must complete the following requirements:

Please be aware:

It’s not always enough to meet the bare minimum requirements to get into your preferred degree program, so work hard to achieve the best grades you can.
Remember that some courses require you to submit additional materials (e.g. portfolio of work, audition or interview). It’s critical that you confirm with the professors what they expect of you.

HOW TO CALCULATE RHODES UNIVERSITY (RU) ADMISSION POINT SCORE (APS)

The percentages achieved in National Senior Certificate examinations (preliminary and final examinations) will be allocated an admissions score using the percentage obtained for each subject. The sum of six subject scores, excluding Life Orientation but including English and any other required subject(s) for the relevant programme is considered when deciding on admission. Results below 40% for any subject do not attract a score. Mathematics Paper 3 does not contribute to the APS score but the results will be captured for the Dean to note when making an admission decision.

EXAMPLES OF POINTS CALCULATIONS

English Home Language 78% 7.8 points
Afrikaans/isiXhosa first/Additional  Language 73% 7.3 points
Mathematics 69% 6.9 points
Life Sciences 70% 7.0 points
Dramatic Arts 89% 8.9 points
Accounting 73% 7.3 points
Life Orientation 90% 0 points
Additional Mathematics 60% 0 points
TOTAL POINTS 45.2 points

APS FOR INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AT Rhodes University (RU)

To earn a solid offer as an international student, you must have at least 40 points. If you have 37–39 points, you will be placed on hold until the end of September, when the Dean will decide if there is room. Some courses may need you to take additional classes (please make sure that you know the requirements of the course beforehand).

Historical Epic’s first Artwork has been unveiled

Historical epic Drama Series Shaka ILembe

We (Hapiportal team) are delighted to keep you updated about Historical Epic’s first Artwork

For years, we’ve heard about it, and now it’s finally occurring.

The historical epic drama series Shaka iLembe is now in production, and the first artwork has been unveiled.

Lemogang’s acting credits include roles on e.tv’s detective series Traffic!, the American miniseries Roots, SABC1’s boxing drama JAB and Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isithembiso.

Newcomer Ntando Zondi stars as Young Shaka.

Nomzamo Mbatha stars as Shaka’s mother Queen Nandi.
She also executively produces.

Snapshots
The series is a co-production between MultiChoice and Bomb (Isibaya, House of Zwide, Isithembiso).

It’s filming in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng as we speak.

Other headliners include Thembinkosi Mthembu as King Dingiswayo and Wiseman Mncube as King Zwide.

It’s taken six years for the show to start filming. The production has consulted historians, academics and family descendants, including the late King Goodwill Zwelithini and Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

It tells the story of the making of King Shaka, from his early childhood to adulthood.

The production has provided jobs for over 8000 people.

The show mixes historical facts and fiction. Here’s a close-up on the show’s perspective from Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment & Connected Video at MultiChoice:

“We want people to learn about our history and culture, but we also want viewers to be riveted to their screens waiting for more.” This play aims to unearth historical tidbits, but fills in the gaps with a narrative that mixes real and imaginary people to keep the tale moving.”

2023 AIE NBT Testing Intake, Test Dates, Fee payments & Results

AIE NBT Testing Venue & Dates 2022-2023

2023 AIE NBT Testing Intake

What is the NATIONAL BENCHMARK TEST?

The National Benchmark Tests (NBT) measure your academic readiness for University.

The NBT Project is a national initiative run by Universities South Africa (formerly known as Higher Education South Africa: HESA).

Some South African universities use the NBTs in addition to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) for access to higher education, while others use the tests to determine the kind of learning support a student will need during their studies.

write the test?

The NBTs are used by many universities in the country. They help higher education institutions to interpret school leaving results such as those of the National Senior Certificate (NSC).

The test results support, but don’t replace or duplicate, NSC results. Some South African higher education institutions use the NBTs for admission and others use them to determine whether you will need extra academic support during your studies. They also assist with the development of curricula. Find out from the institution you are applying to whether you are required to write the tests.

Where can I write the test?

A complete schedule with all the test locations is on the NBT website (www.nbt.ac.za). If there are no tests near to where you live, send an e-mail to nbt@uct.ac.za, or phone us on 021 650 3523 and we will try to schedule a special site for your test.

What can I expect from the test?

There are two tests: Academic Literacy, Quantitative Literacy (which are combined: AQL), and Mathematics (MAT). For more information about what the tests focus on, go to our web site: www.nbt.ac.za.

The QL test is closely related to the intended outcomes of the NSC subject, Mathematical Literacy. Students with disabilities are accommodated.

The AQL test has also been translated into Braille. Each test requires you to apply prior learning – what you know and are able to do – to materials that reflect expectations for first year students in university programmes. The tests are confidential, so there are no past papers and no special study materials to prepare for the tests.

When should I write?

You should write when you feel ready, but make sure that you write in time to meet all deadlines and requirements for the programme(s) to which you are applying. You must write both tests on the same day. You are allowed to write the NBT a second time, but you will need to confirm with your faculty first that a second score will be accepted.

*Each institution determines which tests are required i.e the university and faculty where you apply will determine which tests you must write (AQL or MAT, or both). Please check with each institution/faculty where you intend to apply, before you register for the NBTs with regards to their application requirements including closing dates and deadlines for receiving NBT results. Please note that each university has different requirements and each faculty may require different tests or have different deadlines.

  • UCT – All departments require test
  • Wits – Health Sciences
  • Stellenbosch – All departments require test
  • Rhodes – All departments require test
  • Tuks – Health & Veterinary Sciences
